City of Heroes

Post by gynoneko » Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:00 pm

For those who don't know, City of Heroes is a popular online MMORPG video game. It recently (like a week or 2 ago) went Free to Play. That means, you can log in, and play, without paying anything! It's pretty awesome. I've been playing for years, but had to stop cause I couldn't afford it. Now that it is free, I am playing once again.
The reason I bring thins up is simple. You can create robots.. nay.. FEMBOTS in CoH. I have several robot characters, including my main character, Kitty Meow Meow. Yes... funny name.. sounds Japanese.. that's the point. The character is an homage to the over-the-top Japanese style of super-hero characters. In fact, she is not only a robot, but also a cat girl. She has her own little back story, and... who knows.. maybe will end up with a story or two about her in here... but not sexual.. she doesn't do that. (Not that she doesn't tease or play around... she just doesn't have the "equipment").
She is actually an homage to Astro Boy, among other anime characters. If you ever get the chance, you can meet her on City of Heroes on the Triumph server.
Here are some pics of her doing her thing (sporting different outfits mostly :P).

I just had a great night on COH, fighting off a giant octopus monster called Lusca. I made the comment that tentacle monsters + robot cat girls = tentacle pr0n. We ended up making jokes about it all night, and I had a blast yelling out things like "YES" and "MORE" while we were fighting it. I didn't overdo it or anything, but we got some great laughs.

That's kinda... random...

But yes! FREE! As in you can pay if you want but you don't have to in order to play.

Can you get the actual game for free or do i need to still buy the disc? DC Universe just went free to play on PC and PS3. All you have to do is down load the whole game.

Free free free! No need to buy anything. Just go to cityofheroes.com and you can download the game. It comes with access to Coty of Heroes and City of Villains, but not to Going Rogue (aka Praetoria) unless you pay for that. However that is a newer area and you don't need to have it to get access to most of the game content. HOWEVER, Going Rogue has a clockwork costume set you get with it which is perfect for role playing robots/gynoids. If you want, you can buy those parts separately, but if you pay for Going Rogue, not only do you get access to that content, but you get VIP for one month and after that you retain access to all the costumes plus 2 additional character slots. That way you can be VIP once, and get a lot out of it that will last a while.

So in short, go to cityofheroes.com and look around, make a free account, download the game for free. If you like what you see, consider going VIP or buying some stuff on the in-game store, or try out the Going Rogue expansion. I will have new screenshots to share later on, just got Going Rogue myself, so now I can play with all the new robot stuff.

(Oh! There is also a robot/cyborg pack you can buy in the in-game store that would be worth looking at.)

Yes, I forgot about that deal, but this is for NEW members only, as in free accounts. If you had previously played, you will have to make a new account to take advantage of that offer... otherwise it doesn't work. So for most of you, go for it!
