I have to imagine that for every troublesome robot in a manip, there are a hundred cheerfully keeping up to date and carefully following their bodies' user's manuals.

Good question!

Background: she is an upload. I like to think of the uncovered surface control interface units as ‘pro models’ - designed for convent access in the workplace. A design feature started with Class 4 (non-sexual) androids but extended to Class 3 (less than human-real but fully functional) as androids become more commonplace and any stigma with uncovered controls reduces…

I’d imagine others in her party would react with mild annoyance, similar to hearing ‘you can’t park there’… if human or more expensive models (suitable for poolside use) they might be a little frustrated at stupid rules that prevent their companion from joining them by the pool. If they are similar spec androids (maybe a little more covered up) then maybe they’d take the hint and relocate.

Most likely any androids in her party would have already installed and be running the resort software ‘for the best experience’ so they might think she’s a bit odd or ‘retro’ for not doing so.

I don’t think any of them would be much bothered at the thought of her being reprogrammed in this way, even unwillingly, after all, she is just a robot now…

It's wild what can become normal to people, especially when those people become software. It's a pretty grim setting!

I suppose the kinks and struggles with the early uploads got people used to the idea.
