Dirk Gently - Series 1 - Episode 2

With business far from booming, Dirk and Macduff style themselves as holistic security consultants and return to the university that expelled Dirk for cheating twenty years earlier. Charged with protecting a valuable state-of-the-art humanoid robot, things veer rapidly off course as, within hours of their arrival, the robot is stolen and Dirk and Macduff find themselves the prime suspects in a murder case.

The gynoid (pronounced British-style as "jine-oid") only makes a couple appearances and doesn't speak but she's fairly cute and very robotic (e.g. skin-tone rubber gloves make the actress' hands look artificial). There's a pretty sweet technophile twist in how it all ends that's pretty good.

The show is occasionally funny (e.g. Dirk's outburst of frustration toward the beginning) but kind of drags in the middle. Coincidentally, it's also occasionally a good technophile story (e.g. right after the funny bit, Dirk describes the android, "... white, about 5'5", black eyes, strangely erotic, answers to the name of 'Elaine'", obviously played for laughs but not entirely untrue) but kind of drags in the middle.
