... on the 'Eurovision Song Contest' this past weekend there was more than one entry with some robo-esque dancing. The opening number by the hosts has a brief section of en-masse robot moves and the Croatian entry (song 9, if you don't feel the need to sit through the whole thing) features a woman spinning, doll-like on a pedestal between moments of over-frenetic dancing.
You can 'enjoy' the competition for the next 5 or so days on the BBC site...

Now, a warning if you haven't seen (or more importantly heard) the Eurovision Song Contest - it is best enjoyed drunk. The music tends to be excruciating.
I'm a little embarrased to point this out, but...

Personally, I liked a lot of the songs on Eurovision, though the ones I like almost never win, except for Lordi from Finland a few years ago!
Anyways, here are YouTube videos of the songs people have been pointing out.
Marija Å erifović - "Molitva/Ne Volis Je Znam (Medley)" (This is last year's winner. Because she represented Serbia, the contest was held in Belgrade this year. She opened the show with a dance mix of "Molitva", her winning song, combined with what is probably her new English single. The robotic dancing occurs once "Molitva" segues into the other track.)
--Lyrics & Translation ("Molitva" only)
Kraljevi Ulice & 75 Cents - "Romanca" (This is Croatia's entry, sung by some folk-type group with an introduction from an older comedian. For a good part of the song, there is a woman on a rotating pedestal in a beautiful frozen dancer's pose, almost like a clockwork toy or a music box. During parts of the song she runs around the other performers while dancing.)
--Lyrics & Translation
Rodolfo Chikilicuatre - "Baila El Chiki-Chiki" (This was Spain's entry, basically a Spanish comedian doing a parody of Reggaeton. In the "chorus", he highlights a few types of other dances, including "el Robocop", which involves his backing dancers doing more robot-themed moves. It's a really crappy song but it sticks in your head...)
--Lyrics & Translation
These aren't the best, but I hope you enjoy them anyway!
I'll post these in the YouTube thread too if someone wants me to.
Enjoy!
