Dan Savage lends a couple paragraphs to fuckbots

Although I believe his official site is in sleepy Seattle, the April 23 edition of Savage Love on The Onion by Dan Savage is already posted. It makes straightforward mention of the possibility of "fuckbots": "In his newish book Love And Sex With Robots, author David Levy predicts that in five decades or so, people are going to be fucking and falling in love with humanoid sex robots [...] Let me just say this: There's going to be a lot more to fuckbots than Levy imagines in his philosophy. While Levy foresees fuckbots that can be programmed with voices, eye colors, or 'particular personality traits' that their owners/mates find sexy, I foresee a future in which every last unrealizable fetish or fantasy is suddenly within the grasp of all–well, not all."

I guess that Levy's book has cast a kindly eye on our particular fetish. I tend to agree with Savage's assessment as well: that it is (like the male-on-male dragon fetish of the letter writer) an unrealizable fantasy. The theory is that it's possible "in the future" but I'm pretty sure I won't want anything to do with a physical plastic fantasy: I just want the fantasy plastic fantasy.

Ya know, that's well said. I have had this debate before with someone on this board who was very adamant about his control fetish over an actual robot and how awesome that would be (I forget who) but if I'm honest with myself, I much prefer the idea of a fembot, or a woman pretending for me, to actually fucking a machine. That's where it's at for me as well. Obviously, I respect everyone who visits this board and don't claim one facet is better than another but for me it's the idea of a fembot rather than an actual fembot.

I agree completely. I've said as much in a lot of other threads, too ... my wife role-playing a robot is sexier than anything man will ever be able to manufacture.

Side note: KJ, years of reading your posts has me pretty sure our tastes are quite similar ... I usually agree with what you have to say.

You know what? Now that I think about it, even though I concur with the sentiment that sex with a human is (at least for the next 100 years or so) irreplaceable, you can't argue that having a real sexdroid does have one ginormous benefit:

In the near future (assuming the tech is advanced enough to overcome that "uncanny valley" thing) it could be WAY EASIER to get into a threesome with your significant other if you bring in a droid instead of a human. Even orgies, swinging, and general debauchery could have a dramatically reduced risk of disease or emotional repercussions if it's just you, your spouse and any number of artificial persons.

Ladies and Gentlemen... time to embrace THE FUTURE!
