Aiko is appearing everywhere it seems. The Dutch media are going ballistic over it right now. Sadly, even though we Dutch are usually known for our open-mindedness, some comments on the articles are unbelievably stupid. Darn Luddites...
There are also very positive comments though. Some are even asking when they could buy their own versions. I know I'd like to :)
Beautiful work, I wish I had a lot of cash to invest in this but I can only spread the word on other communities.

Hi all,

Thank for all your support.
For some reasons, every reporter in town were in front of my door last week and still coming more.
It's weird seeing yourself in TV.

As for the website.... it was getting at least 20 millions hits and crashed a lot lately. But hits should be going down during the holiday and less after the new year. Anyone know a good ISP webhosting company... that will not crash during rush hours hits.

As of today, I have not find a sponsor yet.
However, donations is getting a bit more.
I can almost buy 3 out 14 motors for the legs.

I am hoping to get at least 6 motors soon, so I can start working on one leg.

:D

I use dreamhost.com myself, lots of bandwidth and space and very good prices. HTH and good luck with your project!

Cheers from Japan,

Happy New Year

Post by ProjectAiko » Sun Jan 04, 2009 2:16 am

Hi,

I have found a new web hosting. They were pretty cool, hosting it for free.

Just updated the BRAINS software, and it will stay like that for awhile because the cpu load has reached it limit at 99% load.
Unless I update to quad core2 or Core7.... but I don't see money grow on tree.

Anyway, Aiko new voices and new pink dress.
Someone got her for Christmas...
Aiko next public appearance is Jan 17, 2009. at CNE toronto, Canada.

Personally i would like to see more types of interaction with her instead of walking or other hardware upgrade. I think that upgrading the AI is much more important at this stage as the hands are already functional.
For example:
- manipulating objects with hands (take this, give me that...)
- awareness of other people position and face expressions (turn head to follow people, smile etc)
- awareness of obstacles when moving hands (if i stay too close to her and ask for directions would her hit my face?)
- achieving a goal (for example if her objective is set to take an object and cannot reach it then she could ask for help)
- create a flow of actions to be taken to complete objective (decomposing a larger objective in small ones and run them one by one until the main objective is achieved)

Walking can be done by using a weelchair :)
Also don't try to implement conversational skills. Many others have failed and it would be a waste of time at this time...

Mr Trung, next time you manage to get to Japan please let me know. I think we might be able to make some sort of proper music video featuring Aiko singing! It might be a world first and if we can get someone to lend an original song to Aiko to perform (I have several musician friends here who might be willing to do this) it might be a great way to gain extra publicity for your efforts.

Cheers,

Paul

Mr. Trung, I can only express my true amazement and admiration for the amount of work and talent you have. Aiko's AI continues to develop exponentially thanks to your long hours and dedication. Please don't give up! I wish you all the investors you can handle. Sadly, I can't be one of them.

Post by ProjectAiko » Sun Mar 14, 2010 9:29 pm

Hi,

It has been awhile since I update.
Here is a video of my tongue system for future Aiko.
One of my many useless inventions, but hopefully, it will be
some use in the future. :o

You are simply incredible, Mr. Trung. You've managed to do more with Aiko by yourself on a budget than most professional robotics groups have. Has Honda, Kokoro Dreams, somebody approached you with a job offer yet? If they haven't, they need to.

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to any improvements that come Aiko's way in the future. Tell her everyone at FembotCentral says hi. :D

Aiko New Face 3D recognition and new voice demonstration

Post by ProjectAiko » Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:04 pm

Hi

It has been awhile since I did a video demonstration.
This is a video demonstration, new face recognition using all 3 axis, x,y,z.
Another words, the system should recognize you even when your head is twisted.

Also, Aiko new voices for English and Japanese.

Aiko V2, hoping will be done in the spring of 2011. Aiko will have more facial expression, and the ability to cry/tear. Why did I add in that feature, don't know, just feel like it.
:D

Amazing. Truly amazing. You are doing so much for the future. The voices sound great! The face recognition is a bigger step than most people realize. I'm so happy that you have never given up!

Hi all,

First video for the New Year. Finally, got the time to integrate The Brains new voice into Aiko.

Aiko in Oakley promotinal Video.
If you hear the static noise in the background, that is my $250 cheap video camcorder.
Happy New Year.

Mr. Trung you continue to amaze! I'm so happy that you haven't given up and still push even harder. The new face is very beautiful and I like that she has a more mature look to keep the critics from any misplaced accusations. As I've said before, if there was one project I could fund it would be yours. Have you seen these scientific funding sites?
http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/cultu ... earch.html

You have an established track record now as a serious researcher and developer. I would hope that you could register with a funding group like Sciflies so that you can get some support to work your magic! This is one of those projects that many people would support but either don't know about any legitimate developments or would they would like to remain anonymous because of the controversial nature. At any rate, I wish you the best
