www.javtalk.com and torrents.

Post by galactus_jones » Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:27 pm

There is a site:

http://www.javtalk.com/

Along with a lot of other discussions, they have a channel devoted to bittorrents. You need to sign up to read the group, but membership does not cost anything.

They often torrent things of interest to us. Specifically, in a thread titled "June 24-Banana Boy BTs" is a bit torrent for the Android Nurses movie mentioned ealier.

I am currently torrenting the movie now. I uploaded the torrent to hottori's server, and will upload the movie when I finish getting it. I have had problems w/ uploading large files in the past (the session tends to die), so it may take me a while to get it on the ftp site. If you are interested in the movie, I would suggest torrenting it.

Great find, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I appreciate your efforts. However, I can't seem to access either of the files that you uploaded to the ftp. The actual torrent won't open (I keep getting a "timeout while contacting server" error) but that's no big surprise since that's the same thing I always get when I try to torrent something; I never have gotten one to work. The actual movie file on the ftp though is giving me another error, acting as if I already have the file and prompting me to resume of overwrite it and then when I choose one saying "can't access file download failed". Any ideas from anyone?

XTC: as a guess, your ISP is blocking torrents.

I don't know why you are getting that error from your FTP client- is anyone else having the same problem?

XTC: is there a partial file by that name in your directory? Try deleting it and starting over.

I've switched ISP a bit often. 2 out of 4 were blocking torrents. There was no easy solution.. I did some kind of mucking about with router forwarding in one case, and it worked for a while, but the ISP reconfigured or something and blocked torrents again.
Figured if I kept trying they'd just cut me off or something.
So I just gave up.

I really dont know much about the workings of the Net, I just google and follow help page instructions.

Start googling for advice specific to your modem, ISP or whatever, there might be help.

I managed to get it off the ftp. There was no partial file, I just didn't mess with it for a couple days and then it decided to work. The interweb is weird like sometimes I guess. As for the torrents, I'm just going to forget about them as they have always been more trouble than they're worth. Anyways, thank you very much for your efforts.
