Looker coming out on DVD in January

Post by poppyknee » Sat Sep 09, 2006 2:25 am

I'll delurk for a bit with some news I received. Looker, the Michael Crighton film from 1981, will come out on DVD at the end of January, 2007. If your really interested, you can even preorder it now (and no, I have no financial interest in this release).

For those who have not heard of it, Looker's plot centers around the creation of computer generated human images for use in TV commercials. As conceived in 1981, to do this you would have to lower a nude model (in the film's centerpiece scene Susan Dey) into a special computer chamber for a prolonged body scan. I personally think of this and the results as fembot related, but if you think otherwise I apologize for wasting your time.

Wow, I hadn't thought about that movie in ages. I don't think it really can be considered a gynoid flick but as I remember, it was very good and the scanning scene certainly got my attention :)
