Fembots made it to digg.com front page!

Post by Bart » Tue Aug 15, 2006 6:55 am

Our little fascination is maybe more mainstream that I thought. "Fembots: A pop-culture fascination" just made it to the digg.com front page. (If you don't know digg, you should definately check it out, it's a great social bookmarking and news site).

The article has been reported here so I better not double post it. But check out the discussion at digg.com. There's also a link to the gallery from the article - in case you missed it (like me). Some nice pics (S1M0NE  damn, I need to watch this movie).

True, but sometimes it's fun to read a "layman's" opinion of fembots and ASFR, if only to see how much different our views are from the average person.

I agree with Kishin and Dr. Robo above (only caveat: not sure if ANY fetish will /can ever gain "mainstream acceptability" in our society, though ASFR has farther to go than many...even if only because it is largely unnoticed).

There were some interesting/funny comments...

Did I detect a few closet ASFRians who were trying to make chuckles to conceal their fascination/arousal? Or am I just hoping that we have more comrades out their than this site's membership tally tells us? Wonder if some of us should post on Digg, let'em know we're here. Or would that be courting some sort of disaster? It's not my call.

Either way, that thread deserves a glance. Good catch, Bart!

Is it me, or have the number of reports just been going up and up every month lately? Yea, my brethren, the Age of ASFR...IS AT HAND! BEHOLD!

Welllll..................

As one of the bona-fide "Greybeards" here, I'd like to emphasize an excellent point made above - only because it is largely unnoticed.

Our little "fetish" has been amazingly stealthy, with regards to it's notoriety (or in a broader term, it's "mainstream" acceptability); mainly because there hasn't been too much sensationalism associated with our normal pursuit of the interest - unlike say, the foot-fetishers, the bodily-function devotee`s, the "spy/Webcam-in-the-ladie's-restroom" crowd, the boob lovers, the leg lovers, ad infinitum.

Humanizing, or more precisely "feminizing" machines has been around as long as machines themselves have - how many cars, boats, planes, trains, and even space vehicles have been either actually named in the feminine gender {the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II comes to mind}, or are at least referred to as "she?"

Man looks at objects he has made as beautiful works of art, and automatically attributes feminine qualities to them. He has been conditioned to do so by Nature/God - because women were designed to attract a male's attention, and capture his fancy.

The design obviously worked, no?

Following this line of thinking, I'll say that us hardcore fembot-lovers will never be able to join the mainstream - because we already ARE the mainstream, in a way........ And we DON'T need sensationalism to Live Long and Prosper, if you know what I mean!! I'm kind of smugly pleased about that fact.
Assemble the ladies? I didn't know that they were broken......

 Interesting points, but I don't know if the area of this "fetish" will ever truly accepted by populous -- but then again I don't know if we would want this to become part of the mainstream.

I think - Part of the allure to this, is that we appreciate the artistic as well as the sexual and philosophical beauty of the gynoid. Once something becomes mainstream, it loses some of its affect. I saw an example of this last night while watching G4TV.

During Star Trek 2.0, they showed the original Trek ep "What Are Little Girls Made Of", and while watching, I watched comment after comment, about the female android (Andrea) and how attractive she was, but nothing about the inner message of the episode. But then again I really didn't expect that much from Trekkies and G4. I think the popular on gynoids/androids would be similiar to this.

So while I agree, if you want to talk seriously about Female androids, it would be nice if some from this group would be asked a couple of questions (It has happened before.), but until more people see the beauty of gynoid/android fetish and not the pornographic (Man Show) side of it. We have to take what we can get.

WOW! I finally said something SMART!

GO ME!

Here's a comment. Some of the services catering to more common fetishes...bdsm, foot, hirsute (the list goes on ad nauseum...no pun intended). I dunno. It may be the pot calling the kettle black, but I find most of that stuff, actually repellent, if not revolting. I'm not even talking necessarily about the CONCEPT of all of these other fetishes...not per se. Mainly, I'm disgusted by the way they are marketed to their various constituents (who greatly outnumber my brethren, and, apparently, sisters, but let's not get started again, eh?). It's the marketing of these mainsteam fetishes. On the web and in your local adult video store.

It's just vulgar.

ASFR would probably go that way too, if it became popular enough to be a major cash cow for large numbers of sex industry pioneers.

At the same time, though, I think I could tolerate that :)
