Yale Repertory Theatre begins its production of Rolin Jones' The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow,Oct. 22.

The work, subtitled An Instant Message with Excitable Music will open at the company's New Haven, Connecticut home, Oct. 28 for a run through Nov. 13.

The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow focuses on a 22-year-old genius who suffers from a debilitating obsessive-compulsive disorder. The comedy finds the resourceful young woman using her internet-connected computer, her pizza-delivering friend and her robot replica of herself, as she sets out to find her biological mother in China.

The play made its world premiere at Costa Mesa, California's South Coast Repertory in April 2003.

Jackson Gay directs the Yale Rep cast which includes Remy Auberjonois,Carson Elrod, Seema Sueko, Ken Marks, Keiko Yamamoto and Janet Zarish. All actors – except Yamamoto who portrays the title character – play multiple roles in the staging.

The production features original music composed by Matthew Suttor and a design team that includes Lee Savage (scenic), Chloe Chapin (costumes), Miriam Crowe (lighting) and Hillary Charnas (sound). Rick Sordelet is the fight director and Walton Wilson handles company voice work. Christine Mok serves as the dramaturg and Marion Friedman is stage manager.

Jenny Chow closes out the season at SCR Julianne Argyros Stage. The larger Segerstrom Stage currently runs Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel through May 18 then concludes with Michael Healey's The Drawer Boy (May 23-June 29).
