This is definately a good sign. The movie was good and I've heard of a second manga (Man/Machine Interface). There was no mention of any full androids (the main character is a full body cyborg) so there are no AI (but if the series takes place after the movie then there is that possibility). Some of the silouettes in the characters section were decicedly female so there's a chance.

...and the rest of the world can take a leap, because the legendary Production I.G. is making a Ghost in the Shell tv series with Masamune Shirow consulting and Yoko Kanno doing the music! Much yay-ness abounds.

Nice find! I had heard that they were planning to do a show last year but this is the first I've seen of it online. It looks beautiful!
