SyFy's Dark Matter

Post by DukeNukem 2417 » Tue Jun 16, 2015 1:39 pm

There's a gynoid in this series---played by Zoie Palmer from Lost Girl. Nice hand-detachment, neck-port and shutdown/reactivation scenes in the first episode (saw it this morning), and Zoie (her character doesn't have a name) has a nice, flat but not monotone voice. Worth a look, in my own humble opinion.

I haven't been watching - is the show's ASFR FTP-worthy?
Otherwise, I won't bother with it.

It has a few moments, though The Android is pretty nice to watch in and of herself since she speaks almost in the same way that Data does in Star Trek.

There was another gynoid on last night's episode---an "entertainment" model, if I recall correctly. Anyone get screengrabs?

I'm putting E6 into the FTP now.
I'm waiting on a larger E7 to become available.

Just saw the episode.
I would have LOVED to "dunk the cosmic donut" with her
No but seriously, this episode was the funniest yet, when android suddenly changed her accent to a jamaican one i almost pissed my pants because i was laughing so hard.

This episode made me think "god i miss stargate"

I'm always a fan of headless scenes.

And as with Dale, I too am waiting for a 1080p version before screencapping. So far, all I have is 720p.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the nurse in one of previous episodes was also a female android.
I think there was advertisement for her model on TV behind her desk.
I hope creators of the series like fembots as much as we do. :)

I think not only have they shown they're not afraid to introduce fembots (SG-1 and Atlantis both had more than their fair share), but also I think they've made it very clear that robots are a thing in this universe. And they made big strides with the last episode in implying the main android will probably evolve significantly if/as the series continues.

On another note, what does it mean that just one episode of this show, which has a fembot played by an actress struggling with her lines, is at least as believable and effective as a whole series supposedly about robots and their effect on society?

This show is like a warm security blanket. As a space opera, it brings absolutely nothing new to the table (I can name ten better past examples off the top of my head), and yet I find myself looking forward to it regardless. Ms. Palmer is perfectly charming, regardless of the believability of her performance, and if androids do become a staple of this series it'll be an entirely unexpected boon.

Well said, Karel. I, personally, would take this light-hearted exercise in confirmation bias over eight hours of depressing robomelodrama any day of the week (although I do hope robots continue to be a major part of Dark Matter).

I see that season 2 started a few weeks ago. Has there been any screencap worthy activity in the first two episodes?

Not really, but Episode 3 got a quick shutdown scene from The Android!

Just watched episode 4.
The android's story arc for this episode involved her running into androids that could pass as humans.
Two of them were female, 3 of them male.
They gave her an emotional upgrade chip that she will use in episode 5, so that's going to be interesting.
Also there is a nice scene of her when she's wearing a dress.

One of them asked her if he could kiss her.
She dryly and unemotionaly just said "ok" imideatly after he asked her
Sometimes you can just see the stargate writing in this show :)
