Ah whatever, I'm in. It has no reason to exist (like the sequel novels) but it looks right. I guess Deckard wasn't a replicant, so let's see what else they got.

This is definitely one that you never tell your kids about after you introduce them to the original: just pretend it doesn't exist, a la the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Crystal Skull...jeez, a lot of Harrison Ford movies... But, that having been said, it is Denis Villeneuve, who hasn't put a foot wrong yet with Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival, so as grossly unnecessary as it is it may actually be worth watching.

As someone who recently saw both "Sicario" and "Arrival", as soon as I saw it was directed by Villeneuve I was like "Well, Shit. Imma have to watch this...".
