Well, at least ONE person (besides me) was wondering about all those damned octagons, too!

Hey, I like the results...about half (so far) want this to go to series.

I wonder who the three were that were too busy drooling over Number 6 and Boomer :)

I was never a huge fan of BSG 78 but I thought the new BSG was prety good overall. If they come out of the gate with some good story lines I would probably watch a seriese based on the new movie.

I was almost at the point of giving up on the Scifi channel because it seems all they run latley are movies about giant spiders, snakes, gators/crocks, roaches, dust bunnies adnausium. The new BSG shows they can do good work when they want to.

I am interested to see if they are going to keep up such a dark atmosphere throughout the series, if they decide to deploy it. I know there is no real way to sugar coat the destruction of 12 worlds and probably tens of billions of people, but in some instances it was almost depressing. Two big examples come to mind, the first being when the nice little girl with the doll gets nuked, and the second being when Six snaps a baby's neck. Not that I am against violence in movies, but I guess they really wanted to generate a desperate situation.

I would like to see the show continue, and I hope that they can turn it to be a little more upbeat without being silly.

I found those two instances to be rather saddening...and truly, despicably evil.

But, I take comfort in thinking that Six may not have killed the baby out of malice, but for mercy.

But, as you stated, it may have been to help set the tone for the entire run.

BTW: Does anyone know how we can contact Ron Moore and express our satisfaction with BSG '03 (and perhaps encourage a series)?

To encourage a SERIES from this BATTLESTAR GALACTICA movie....? --well, you aren't alone in the sentiment, because a LOT of fans were pleased.....I didn't see the whole thing, but for ANYTHING that runs on the SciFi Channel.....write in care of USA NETWORK...addys are in TV GUIDE at times---but all SciFi Channel, USA, UNIVERSAL TV things are now under the NBC network....so if you have no luck with USA NETWORK directly.... NBC is the way to go, because they now own UNIVERSAL TV and movies, as well as their music catalog......AND THEME PARKS.....gee, I can't wait to go on the SCRUBS ride! ---minkwheel

The movie re-used Cold War nuclear imagery quite effectively.

The girl with the doll is based on the jarring "Daisy Girl" commercial from the 1964 presidential campaign, who is sitting in a field pulling petals off of daisies when a mushroom cloud appears in the distance behind her.
( the commercial only was aired once. )

The mushroom clouds do seem more fitting than funky voiced Cylons running round shooting people at parties, like in the original.

That's what it was reminding me of! Damn, I knew it looked familiar; I just couldn't place it. Thanks!

(Not that I was *alive* in 1964, much less paying attention to presidential campaigns...)

Of course, you saw it on Discovery Channel...

:)

Hell, I was BORN in 1964, and got a few gray hairs to prove it...

No, wait, those gray hairs came from my ex-girlfriend...
