Not sure how the crowd will react to this story, and I haven't read the 8 pages of comments yet, but at least the guy knows what he likes:

greaaat. One would think that Anderson Cooper would have a more "progressive" or "tolerant" demographic than, say, Glen Beck. Looking over the comments and the "Thumbs Up" vs. "Thumbs Down" votes it appears not to be so. This can only mean that society in general is still stubbornly ignorant, completely closed minded and extremely self-righteous. To top off this unsurprising revelation they link to a new film by none other than the self proclaimed expert on the subject, PROFESSOR Alison de Fren. (I won't be linking to it here.)
I fucking regret trying to help her understand us back when she was still a student working on her thesis. Naturally that film features plenty of "experts" speculating on the subject but not enough actual techno-sexuals or doll-fetishists to explain. And naturally their assumptions imply that there is something inherently wrong or, worse yet, misogynistic. I did happen to notice as well that the one guy that they picked to add any reasoning was cut off when he said it may be that men like something they can control.
Therefore that's what this is all about folks! Losers who have control issues and unreasonable expectations. Nothing about being hurt over and over; nothing about having something or someone that is more predictable and reliable; nothing about people who have diseases or handicaps or are elderly or are simply not attractive; or nothing about just plain having fun and being able to explore and experiment without risk, judgement or betrayal. Nope. Just a bunch of perverts.

...Pretty much the same thing for me. So long as the authorities at large don't throw me in jail for it, I don't care what people think. It's not like I plan on trumpeting my opinions from the top of Mt. Fuji in an Ultraman costume or something.
Let 'em think we are freaks. They can have fun being normal and boring.

So, Anderson Cooper felt the need to have a go at us "deviants?" Isn't that the proverbial pot calling the kettle black - or PINK, in AC's case? People who live in Wedgeworth Crystal houses shouldn't make with the pebble-tossing..........

Before anyone here takes me to task for "camouflaged gay-bashing," I'm merely pointing out that Cooper's lifestyle is also well outside the mainstream despite the high public profile and positions of real power numerous G/L/TG's currently enjoy. "It won't ever play Peoria," in other words. I've no personal beef against the G/L/TG community as a whole, but high profile and real power notwithstanding, they still only make up about 10-15% of a given population anywhere in the world. And at least in the USA, that emphatically makes them a minority any way you slice it, but here lately they seem to have the LOUDEST voices in the ongoing Great Debate.
Our community is much smaller in overall numbers, has no LOUD voice to speak of, and generally resides in grass-roots forums like this one; well away from the "mainstream," but still somehow "deviant" due to the strong fetish connotation. Which gets me back to my original point - social outcasts of any stripe only hurt themselves by disrespecting others who might also be swimming against the current, albeit in a different manner. AC ought to be ashamed of himself and his employer for such blatant INTOLERANCE; his total hypocrisy is only barely matched by the overall irony of the issue in question. Wouldn't the joke be on all of us to find out that AC bought the dude's doll for himself, on the QT?
It wouldn't matter much in the long run, though. AC and CNN done rung the bell, and there ain't no way to un-ring the damn thing, which perhaps they both knew going in, making their actions all the more reprehensible. I for one will NOT tolerate such bullshit.
Finally, how many here feel that AC's "guest" really represented what we're all about in this community? Did he fly our flag properly, or was he simply chosen for a cheap "loser" spin-factor? I favor the latter meself, but I'm genuinely interested in what some other takes on this topic might be. Please feel free to sound out - this could be a quite lively discussion if we can all maintain strong objectivity and keep the emotions firmly in check. Save the anger and outrage for the real targets like AC and Alison De Arnold {as in "Benedict"}, dig?
Peace in, garbage out.
Assemble the ladies? I didn't know that they were broken......

This is distressing because it is simply not true...The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.[37]

Brave man, coming out to his public in 2012.
He only did it because of his new syndicated talk show.

Hardly think other folks are normal, since everyone is into something that would make the next person go ick. At least being into bots/dolls is a lot cleaner than most
