Past lecture at National Press Club

Curious if any DC Metro area members were aware of this, and were able to attend? Just saw this blurb by Robert Tierney in the March 2d edition of City Paper, page 11.

February 16th symposium by The Institute on Biotechnology and the Human Future, entitled "The Spotless Mind? Policy, Ethics, and the Future of Human Intelligence".

The Industry: Biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

The Attendees: 80 brainiacs experimenting with mind-enhancing drugs.

The Issues: Simulated Rapture; Selective Memory;Humanoid Rights.

This last one I'll quote: "With increasingly sophisticated robots capable of thought and sensory perception, a panelist suggested that legal rights may be sought for intelligent machines. Possible circumstances include a robot filing for an injunction to prevent itself from being disassembled."
I thought we were friends. How could you do a thing like that? I was just going to fix coffee. :faceoff:
