Fragile Machine

I can't remember if anybody mentioned a DVD that just came out called Fragile Machine. It's described as a sort of digital opera as the story is told through computer animation and music - with SOME dialogue. The 30 minute movie's synopsis is described as Leda Nea - the first girl to be manufactured, not born, and goes through the process of her questioning why she was made, who she is, does she have a soul, and what will happen to her when she dies.

---------------- Spoiler alert -------------

After watching the DVD, I have a few comments. First of all, the music is very nice and soothing, along the lines of a soft electronica and New Age. The animation is fare - but that can be forgiven due to it coming out of an art class.

The story seems to center on the protagonist, Lea Nea, as she mourns the loss of her daughter. Being a scientist at the gynoid's manufacturing plant (before the gynoid is built), she's asked to participate in an experiment to build the first organic / machine human.

From what I can tell after watching the whole 30 minutes, she and four other scientists participate - and are TURNED into the gynoids. The actual transformation is never shown, but much of the creation process is. The majority of the film, however, involves Lea in her new form running around with some of her insides hanging out trying to escape the facility.

The story IS beautiful, as is much of the imagry. It's isn't one I'd add to my collection of Gynoid films, personally, but is one I'd rent. I'll try and have some screen shots posted in the next few days.
