I recall the PUNISHMENT WITHOUT CRIME episode. Rather good if memory serves.

These are the things we need DVD-burning on demand for. ;)

I am reviewing the fembot content for the 1995 OUTER LIMITS episode RULE OF LAW.

In this episode a judge arrives in town for a trial which runs thru the entire show. While the judge is sleeping at night a woman walks up to his door & electricity is discharged from her hand to the locking mechanism. She enters the building & walks up to the sleeping judge. You see the robot's point of view as her eyes scan the man & identify him as judge joshua finch.

The woman stands at the bedside until morning when the judge awakens. She tells the judge that she has been sent from earth to assist him & she replays a recorded message stored in her memory banks. She introduces herself as miranda, a simulated human.

The next day miranda tells the judge there is no more room in town & she is invited to stay with the judge in his place. The judge goes to bed while she sits in a chair. The judge can't sleep with the robot woman staring at him from the chair. She tells him that she only needs to sleep for 48 minutes.

Later in town miranda helps scan a murdered alien in an alley & again you see things from the robot's point of view as she tells the judge death was caused by a puncture wound.

At the end of the day miranda returns to the judge's room to find him in a drunken state & sees a message on the computer from the judge's wife notifying him of their marriage breakup. The judge wakes up the next morning & is surprised to discover miranda has been sleeping with him. She explains the judge was distracted & she was only trying to comfort him so he could focus on the case & operate at maximum efficiency.

Miranda's character is seen throughout the show as she documents judge finch's procedural errors in court during the alien trial.

Here is a list of all the robot episodes in both outer limits series in case anyone is not familiar with all the stories. Only the ones highlighted with an asterisk contain fembots.

A couple of points of interest:

Ray Bradbury Theatre is now available in its entirety on DVD (Region 1, don't know about other regions). There are a few releases right now, which may create a little confusion. I wasn't able to find an episode listing for the cheaper sets, but this set has everything.

Secondly, 4 more New Outer Limits DVDs are slated to hit retail shelves on June 21st, including one titled Fantastic Androids and Robots. Looks to be more of the style of the previous two releases (random episodes fitting a theme). Also, a boxed set will hit stores the same day, presumably containing all sets released up to that point (Amazon lists it as having 6 discs).

Currently, only Season 1 of Night Gallery is available on DVD, which does not contain any robot-related stories. Season 2 includes two stories - The Academy, and You Can't Get Help Like That Anymore, but it is not yet even scheduled for DVD release.

If it's available on DVD, I can rip things to DivX. Right now, I'm loading up on some things from Netflix, so you might see some interesting things on dementedluke's FTP over the next few weeks.

Oh, and if you've got any noteworthy DVD's which would be better shared with the group, send me a private message. I can either help guide you through the ripping process, or do it myself. Let's start filling up dementedluke's hard drive with the stuff we've all been looking for.

The following details gives away plotlines to the tv shows i listed at the beginning. I am reviewing the fembot content for the 1985 RAY BRADBURY THEATRE episode PUNISHMENT WITHOUT CRIME.

In this episode a husband is in jail & pleads with his captors not to kill him as he is being led to the electric chair. He says they can't kill him for murdering his wife since she is still alive.

A flashback is shown from the time the husband had a meeting at a company to discuss killing a facsimile or machine version of his wife. The husband signs a contract & hands over items that will be used in the duplicating process including a lock of hair, cosmetics, recording disc of her voice, perfume, dental charts & medical records.

The husband remembers a time when he caught his wife with another young man after he is asked why he wants to kill her. The husband is told that the facsimile spouse will be ready in two weeks but he won't be able to wait that long. The husband is put to sleep for this fourteen day period & will be awakened when the duplicate is ready.

The husband awakens in a room to see his wife & embraces her. She reminds him of the reason he came & hands him a jacket with a gun inside. The husband throws the gun away & wonders if they will let him keep the facsimile wife if he pays more money. She tells him that her function is to die & she can't leave until this is completed.

The facsimile spouse begins telling her husband about going to visit her young lover as she gives him the gun for a second time. This time the husband becomes enraged & he shoots her dead. He is promptly arrested for murder at the scene of the crime within the company.

The husband is found guilty at his trial for killing the robot copy of his wife. His real wife visits him in prison one last time before he is escorted away to be executed in the electric chair.

There are no robotic special effects in this episode. The facsimile spouse is made to bleed like a human being would after being shot.

CORRECTION : THE 1985 RAY BRADBURY THEATRE EPISODE MARIONETTES INC. WAS ALREADY INCLUDED ON THE MASTER LIST OF FEMALE ANDROIDS.

THE FIRST PART OF THIS POST IS A QUESTION FOR NOIDGUY

Will the gynoid gallery be back at some point in the future? I'm glad i printed out a few copies of the master list over the last few years. I hope i'm not duplicating anything from the master list on these reports. I checked the list periodically to update the most recent one i printed but i'm not sure of any new entries that might have been added in the last 6 months or so. I almost feel like entering this list as a report for everyone's benefit if the master list isn't coming back in the gynoid gallery. I'm not aware of another list like it anywhere on the internet.

The following details gives away plotlines to the tv shows i listed at the beginning. I am reviewing the fembot content for the 2002 TWILIGHT ZONE episode titled HUNTED.

A military unit consisting of four men & one woman are sent out on a mission into the forest to kill a creature that has been preying on their citizens.

The military unit patrols the forest with high-tech weaponry when one of the soldiers goes missing. The group makes camp at night & they hear screams from their missing comrade coming from the deep forest. One of the soldiers is killed with a spear thrown into the camp. Another soldier runs into the trees shooting at the unseen enemy & also disappears.

The unit has been reduced to one man & one woman. At daybreak they find the body of one of the soldiers. Later, they find all three dead soldiers have been tied up & they are hanging from the trees. The unseen creature attacks again as it throws a spear at the two remaining soldiers. The soldiers fire at the enemy & the female soldier disappears during the mayhem.

The female soldier screams & the last member of the unit runs thru the trees trying to find her. He finds her tied up between trees & begins to untie her ropes attempting to free her when he is knocked unconscious from behind. The female soldier screams again before she is killed.

The lone soldier awakens in a cave to find a bearded man with his dead, pregnant wife. The man tells the soldier that he was brought here to help his wife who was bleeding. The soldier is angry at the man for killing his entire unit. The man says he never killed anyone & with a machete cuts off the soldier's hand.

The soldier is revealed to be a cyborg & the man explains that the humans created them with wires, chips & sensors mixed with their DNA. The man becomes angry saying the cyborgs stole their culture, emotions & their existence. He attacks the soldier who then kills the man with a spear.

The soldier is back with his wife & child at home & he tells her that the creators are extinct. The soldier's hand has been reattached & he tells his wife to unplug the baby. The wife pulls out a cord from the child & it is motionless at the end of this episode.

The female soldier & the wife at the end of the story are robots but the only robotic special effects in this episode are with the baby & the soldier's severed hand.

Here is a list of all the robot episodes in both twilight zone series & the night gallery series in case anyone is not familiar with all the stories. Only the ones highlighted with an asterisk contain fembots.

THE TWILIGHT ZONE (1959) ROBOT EPISODES :

1. THE LONELY - SEASON 1 EPISODE 7 (*)
2. THE MIGHTY CASEY - SEASON 1 EPISODE 35
3. THE LATENESS OF THE HOUR - SEASON 2 EPISODE 44 (*)
4. THE TRADE-INS - SEASON 3 EPISODE 96 (*)
5. I SING THE BODY ELECTRIC - SEASON 3 EPISODE 100 (*)
6. IN HIS IMAGE - SEASON 4 EPISODE 103
7. STEEL - SEASON 5 EPISODE 122
8. UNCLE SIMON - SEASON 5 EPISODE 128
9. THE BRAIN CENTER AT WHIPPLE'S - SEASON 5 EPISODE 153

THE TWILIGHT ZONE (2002) ROBOT EPISODES :

1. HUNTED - SEASON 1 EPISODE 18 (*)

NIGHT GALLERY (1969) ROBOT EPISODES :

1. CLASS OF '99 - SEASON 2 EPISODE 8 (*)
2. YOU CAN'T GET HELP LIKE THAT ANYMORE - SEASON 2 EPISODE 27 (*)

Thanks for the great reviews, MAGNUS! Would you mind if I posted them on the Gynoid Gallery?

The Master List is still around, it's just in a different form now. You can see it at http://www.gynoid.dreamhost.com/4images under Screen Captures. I admit it needs a lot of updating.

THE FIRST PART OF THIS POST IS AN ANSWER FOR NOIDGUY

I don't mind if you use these reviews. I thought it might be helpful for some people who are deciding on whether it is worth it to buy any of these in a dvd box set. It was pointed out in an earlier post that some of these episodes are available for sale. Thanks for providing the link to the master list site. For a time it felt as if the sacred ark of the covenant had gone missing! This, of course, puts you in the role of indiana jones returning the sacred list to its rightful place! I will check this list again for new additions. I have a few more items that i don't think are included yet. I will post these in the near future.

The following details gives away plotlines to the tv shows i listed at the beginning. I am reviewing the fembot content for the 1985 RAY BRADBURY THEATRE episode MARIONETTES INC.

In this episode a couple are having breakfast & the wife is driving the husband crazy. The husband goes to work selling computers & discovers a message on his computer from a company called marionettes inc.

The husband tells his friend about the mystery message on his computer & all of the personal data this company knows about him. His friend says it could be a form of blackmail & suggests that he pay a visit to this company.

The husband visits marionettes inc. & meets a spokesman who says he wants to help him live again. The spokesman shows the husband a robot duplicate of himself which is turned on when they enter another room. The husband hears mechanical sounds emanating from inside the robot's chest. He is shown a lab with robot men & women moving in a very mechanical fashion & is told the price of the duplicate is $25,000. The husband leaves the company thinking it is all madness.

Later, the husband & his friend are outside his home at night watching his robot double entertain his wife in the living room. The husband tells his friend that he has been out all day & all night & says it is worth the price.

His friend goes home & discovers $20,000 is missing from his bank account. He enters the living room to ask his sleeping wife what happened to all the money when he makes a startling realization. He bends down to listen to her stomach & hears mechanical sounds from inside of her body.

The husband sneaks into the basement of his own home & activates a mechanism bringing his robot copy straight to his location. The husband is suspicious of the robot's activities with his wife & grills him about his intentions. The robot disagrees with the husband's demands & tells him about all of his faults regarding the mistreatment of his wife & his plans for the future.

The husband & his robot double end up in a scuffle. One of the men is pushed into a packaging crate & the lid is sealed. The other man presses a remote operating the electronic box & a flash of light is seen coming from within the container.

The remaining man goes upstairs to join his wife in bed. He begins telling her about their plans to go on a vacation together to rio & she hugs him. As the episode fades out electronic noises can be heard emanating from inside the robot husband as he hugs his wife.

The only robotic special effects in this episode are the mechanical movements of a robot woman in the lab sequence & the mechanical sound effects heard coming from the sleeping robot woman.

According to tvshowsondvd.com the episodes included in the "Fantastic Androids and Robots" dvd are as follows:

I, Robot
The Hunt
Resurrection
The Camp
Glitch
Small Friends

I have not seen I, Robot but I assume there is no fembot. And Small Friends is about little electronic gadgets. The others all have a couple somewhat decent scenes. In The Hunt you get a nice shot of a back panel being removed. In Resurrection you see a deactivated Heather Graham. In The Camp....well, I don't remember any female stuff. Glitch is the best, in my opinion, with one of the main characters coming to realize that she isn't human.

The following is really minor robotic content for a couple of new OUTER LIMITS episodes that do not feature fembots. In the episode, THE LIGHT BRIGADE, robert patrick's character is given a new robotic arm after his real one is severed in the previous show titled QUALITY OF MERCY. In the episode, PROMISED LAND, flashback footage is shown from the previous show titled THE CAMP. There are no robots in this show other than the flashback footage but this is a sequel story to THE CAMP episode.

1. THE OUTER LIMITS : THE LIGHT BRIGADE - season 2 episode 40 - Actor robert patrick returns for this first the outer limits sequel, a follow-up to last year's 'quality of mercy.' On a desperate mission, a young cadet learns the difference between heroic ideals & the bitter realities of war. The only survivors on a crippled battle cruiser - earth's last hope for victory & survivors - are the cadet, the weapons chief & major john skokes, a repatriated prisoner of war. Exposed to fatal doses of radiation when their fleet was wiped out by the aliens, they fight illness & death to launch a preemptive strike. As the awesome responsibility for success descends on him, the cadet learns that fear is not his only enemy.

2. THE OUTER LIMITS : PROMISED LAND - season 4 episode 83 - Dlavan & his family are tsal-khan, offspring of the handful of aliens who remained on earth after a bitter war of conquest with the human race. Today, they live on a tightly guarded farm where they must grow all their own food, since their forebears poisoned all the plants during the war with mankind. Most of the aliens believe that the human race was wiped out in the war, but there is a group of humans in the woods near the farm. This group, is led by rebecca, escaped from the alien's robot run camps & includes david, ruth & the mute orphaned child tali. They are desperately hungry & have seen their children die from eating poisoned fruit. So, when they spot dlavan's grandson ma'al, wandering in the woods, they follow him home to the farm. After they see the well-fed aliens, rebecca leads the group to raid the farm for food. At first tali figures out how to get around the farm's deadly defensive measures. But, things escalate & individuals are hurt & killed on both sides. When rebecca captures an alien weapon & tali is seriously injured, the scene is set for the final showdown, a battle that could destroy both groups. But, is this the only solution?
