Kidman knew 'Stepford Wives' was destined to flop
March 30, 2005, 11:34:03

Nicole Kidman has admitted she hated making 2004 movie 'The Stepford Wives -
because she knew it was destined to flop.

The Oscar-winning beauty, who starred alongside Matthew Broderick in the
remake of the 1970s film, says the script wasn't up to the standards it
should have been.

The flame-haired actress felt they had made a mistake by trying to turn the
new version into a comedy instead of sticking to the original
thriller-themed version
.

She told Britain's Total Film magazine: "It went completely awry. The idea
of it was very much in the same vein of 'Desperate Housewives' but I just
don't think they took the time to get the script right.

"That was not my happiest experience, put it that way. It wasn't joyful."

What's worse for her is that she was in big demand at the time (as if she isn't now) and turned down other projects because she was committed to doing Stepford.

Its a shame because The Stepford movie could have been a huge success...they needed fembot fans like us to write the plot.

Wasn't that the same excuse Halle Barry gave when she accepted her razzie for Catwoman?

I wouldn't worry about that. Unless they go for "wait, these aren't robots, they're clones, now I'm feeling kind of guilty for shooting and banging them" as a twist. Nanobots, though, unlikely. Hard to be intimidated by a mad robot cowboy that's as wee'er than a blood cell. Unless it was a Gray Goo cowpoke that converts every other character into a crazy robot cowboy made of billions of tiny crazy robot cowboys.

Well, a combination of poser and flash can do that now heheh

The biggest downside is that it takes a hell of a time and effort to crate something like that..... which at least discourages me from making one of these each, let's say once a month

The problem with the Westworld remake is that without Arnold, Joel Silver lost interest in the project and has since moved on. :(
