All I'm getting is the dreaded red X's where pix are supposed to be, and the AVI movie goes to a "Page Not Found" error. Heck...all the links are dead links.

Looks like quite an interesting project. To be perfectly honest, theres something "creepy" about how she looks...
But then I tell myself to really try and look beyond little imperfections and the such. I mean heck, these are babysteps, or building blocks toward real androids and the like...right?
So, whoever this projects' owner is, I give full respect and thank their efforts.

Re: try this...
Ah...that did it. Although a lot of her looks like rubber masks and such, they don't actually show the inner workings (the robotics, control boards, etc.) That "talking" AVI is just someone using her head as a puppet.pamalite wrote:it seems to be some linking problems... try http://www.personalandroid.com/images/ and dld the AVI file insteadkb7rky wrote:Was there supposed to be something there? I'm mildly disappointed, but, yeah, it's baby steps.

Rubber doesn't breathe like foam does...but look at the side benefit:Stephaniebot wrote:maybe there's some special lining in the rubber,I'm certainly willing to give it a try if he wants me to.I must admit it would be interesting to be 'enclosed' in a full rubber suit like that, must get pretty warm though
Weight loss

And, yeah, all that so-called 'android' is, at this stage, is a puppet.
I was mildly disappointed that they never bothered to show the robotics they plan to use.
Hey, speaking of 'personal androids', whatever happened to...oh, hell...what was that one android being built that the builders planned to market for $25K? They had projected that she could do laundry, cook meals, etc?
Valerie...that's it...I was thinking "Vicki"(shades of Small Wonder!)

From the website:
Some of our ideas for the second generation model include [...], real human skin (tissue-cultured), [...].
Those guys are either scammers or do not now what they are talking about. Because human skin needs to be supplied with nutrients and oxygen. So, add skin and you need artificial blood circulation too. Plus some device that will replenish nutrients and oxygen in the blood.
Way beyond the current level of medical technology. Now, if someone promises a walking and talking Realdoll, I might be more inclined to believe it.

This site is a joke, right? Some guy with a female rubber mask,
a wig, and too much lipstick shoves his hand inside and uses
it as a puppet, takes video of this and claims to be making a gynoid?
Is this in any way related to that guy a couple years back who was
building a "gynoid" and actually asking for $50,000 each, half now
and the rest when he "finished", his proof being a photo of a mannequin
and a wish list of gynoid features.

The second part of your rather glaring revelation was what I was referring to earlier, Andoroido, about the "Valerie" domestic android.andoroido wrote:This site is a joke, right? Some guy with a female rubber mask,

Apparently, these guys are trying to con people out of money to fund their research, while they're most likely going to milk their 'investors' for every dime they can get.
Doesn't this sound amazingly like those Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud scams?
Strike what I said about agreeing earlier with 'baby steps'...seems like this bandwagon's on the fast track to scamsville.

Have to agree Doug that rubber isnt very breathable, but must admit the little bit I've worn up to now,its a very sexy covering. Not sure how well foam breathes, but I'm game to try anything that makes me even slightly more robotic.(well preferably the full works, but thats a wake up call for technology!).As to weight loss,I have to say there isnt that much of me to lose in the first place.Must admit what I'd love to try is a metal outfit desgned for a robot, now that would be sensationalkb7rky wrote:Stephaniebot wrote:maybe there's some special lining in the rubber,I'm certainly willing to give it a try if he wants me to.I must admit it would be interesting to be 'enclosed' in a full rubber suit like that, must get pretty warm thoughRubber doesn't breathe like foam does...but look at the side benefit:

I tend to be wary of claims of "hey, look, we've got a robot--and it's got tits!" claims. Generally, if the anouncement of a female robot being made does not coincide with the Robot Apocalypse and/or the sudden grittification of Tokyo, New York, et cetera, we can safely assume that no, the Cyberpunk Age is not sneaking up on us like a theif with a frying pan.
Of course, as soon as the above words spill out of my mouth like a witty comparison, somebody is going to release the Asimo WetNurse.
