Boot-up sequence as foreplay

Post by dale coba » Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:44 am

What information is needed for a full and useful readout during boot-up sequence?
What information is simple, but sufficient, to describe Her qualities?

These eight questions are my attempt to cover the subject.
Configuration mode: Booting… success.
Unnamed unit is op-er-a-tion-al.

Assign <name>: "Unit <name> is op-er-a-tion-al."

Assign <Owner's title>: "Lord, Sir, Master, etc."

Assigning <affirmative response>: "roger, check, confirmed, affirmative…"

Assigning <robot level>: more machine or software-derived behavior, or more human

Assigning <obedience level>: more like from an original human template, or utter ego-less deference - the eager slave.

Setting <sleeper status>: (false, true, or denialist)

Set <crisis threshold>: how unflappable is she? (Stepford total calm, Cash in Cyborg2, or more neurotic and easily rattled)

Set <crisis response>: What happens when her humanity is challenged? (denialist has no response, sleeper could have her identity break-up w/orgasms, or revert to another behavioral mode)
I want to pass my ideas on to the producers out there, but I value your feedback,
to make sure I'm on the right track,
getting to the root of this lustful passion.

Very intriguing notions there. I might add something at the end for when/if she powers down or turns off.

I usually agree with your writing but this time I don't. The idea to make the fembot all that customizeable is nice at first glance, but if showed in a scene, the rest of the film becomes predictable. Not so nice. If a film has such a scene, the questions should ask about the personality of the fembot owner, or ask questions which give sense not until the end of the film.

Yeah, but this isn't for a film; this sounds like it would be part of a roleplay. And since I've got a few potential fembots lined up on imlive, this interests me greatly.

I agree about the need to build to the big reveal.

If you had two ladies performing, configuring one would imply that the other could be one type or another of robot listed above.

I'm trying to establish a context - when Westworld was new, the idea of a resort full of bots was fresh in the culture.

You can keep your Wild West, Medieval, Roman or other historical or fictional areas of the resort.
Where I want to go, comes after that.

I'm interested in the place where each Owner has all the bots and buildings needed to stage, explore, develop and learn from complex interactions between bot characters. Stage con games, blackmail schemes, re-enact movies, whatever - but also they provide fun ideas to inject into the themed areas. Twins ! I can't think of all the possibilities!

And, for drama, women Owners and women guests of Owners also inhabit this Meta-world.

Of course, I'm not lying when I say that it's not true that every and all women you meet in Meta-world are actually robots, because we certainly don't have a policy of covertly converting all women who visit into robots, and just not telling most of them.

That would be very wrong, wouldn't it?
Yummy, fictional wrong!

I kind of feel like the 'crisis' categories need to be split into some more dimensions. Or maybe I'm just not getting it right.

But if this is an introduction for RP, "Estimated Battery Life" would be a nice thing to know for setting the pace. Though that may be getting a little beyond 'simple', I admit. Same goes for talking about 'recent software updates' (fellatio v5.1.12? I guess I'll need to do some bug testing. Oh. Darn.)

in classic filmmaking there is a ploy used when you want to tell the story of why and how but telling it ruins the story...the ploy? explaign it at the end.
this has been done coutless times and applied here you could have a man and a woman interacting, you might throw a few other women into the mix so you don't know immediately who the fembot is.
then an event (murder, kidnapping, hostage, attack, etc) and as an afterthought at the end show the programming sequence.
this males everything fall into place and leaves the viewer with an understanding of what has happened and why.

of course there are still little threads to clean off before the story is workable but all things must start somewhere
