I saw some great photos of a naked girl where they used rubber bands to show segmentation at joints:

Warning: Contains nudity NSFW

Cheaper than a lycra suit and to my mind more realistic.

HTH!

Surprisingly effective, but it seems like it would get very uncomfortable very quickly.

Well, a local dancewear shop would carry bodysuits in fleshtone .. as for the seams ... either buy custom or a sharpie marker.

This might give you a head start ...

The rubber band thing might work without being tiring if they're just not that tight. Those doll photos probably used bands that were quite tight to make the effect easy to see, as it was the only thing he had going to to show she is a "doll". Using such tight bands wouldn't be necessary as it seems the bands aren't the sole element, but just an enhancement.

Wonder if putting fat, not too tight black rubber bands over, or maybe even UNDER the spandex would make a more subtle effect, or that might not be visible at all on camera, or just slide around.

Some of the Japanese indie costumed-heroine producers tried using marker to put lines on their spandex outfits, worked OK except in any closeups, where it just looked like marker, seemed like they had used a straightedge, but the marker just didn't take on the first pass so they went over the same line a few times, which leads to some lines fatter, bits of diagonal-ness, bleeding over, etc.

There are several online stores that let you get very specific with your body measurements, color selections, and patterns.

One site that can't be beat for price is:
http://www.milanoo.com/

Just find your way to the Catsuits & Zentai page and you'll see it all. There is a slight language barrier (Chinese company) but they do a good job and will make just about anything you want. I wouldn't be surprised if they could even pull off some interesting details like a tear-away "panel" that contains a different fabric / pattern, or nothing at all, underneath.

For a perfect fit it is well worth going through the process of making all of their requested measurements.
