Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

- 5th largest US population center
- 6th most dangerous American city with a population of over 500,000
- Oldest median age population in US (the Young Adults left town, in search of better employment prospects.)

The "intellectually elite" North-Eastern US city just close enough to the Mason-Dixon line to make us constantly nervous.

Well, one of my grandfathers was born in Philadelphia in 1895.
They weren't from there, but Ohio. His father was going to college.
My only close connection with that area.

So which is it? CAL-gary or cal-GARY. I've heard a certain hockey announcer pronounce it like the latter, and since he's a hockey announcer I figure he must know everything about Canada. :D

I'm from west Michigan, btw.

In THE FRANTICS' sketch (FOUR ON THE FLOOR, for those who do not know 'THE FRANTICS") --anyway...in their radio sketch 'LAST WILL AND TEMPERMENT" after willing several BOOTS TO THE HEAD to the gathered mourners, Mr. Muldoon's will stated 'AND I LEAVE THE REST OF MY MONEY TO THE PEOPLE OF CALGARY SO THEY CAN MOVE SOMEWHERE DECENT" --- come on......it can't be all that bad! ----------can it? ---minkwheel

Well Robotman I totally agree you can never get that out of your blood.

While Noidguy I like to tell everyone that asks that exact question, the proper way to pronounce Calgary is by not pronouncing the A in Gary. So really Calg'ry and I'm pretty Sure the Hockey announcer had his share of things to say about the Flames as well.

I'm from Chicago. Two things:

1. Its called the Windy City because of the politicians.
2. Please don't take this thread into the area of sports futility when there's a Cubs fan around.
