SyFy Channel also considered changing its name to "SFC" and "Beyond"
But the cable channel decided to go with SyFy because it was an easier name to acquire than SFC or Beyond, according to SyFy president Dave Howe: "Which is why having a made-up name is more open and enables you to give it the perception and values you want it to have." PLUS: Sci Fi Channel co-founder says new name is "dumb."
