SFM Videos: Where are they?

Post by Muzzleruffels » Tue Apr 01, 2014 10:02 pm

It is something I've been wondering for a while.

I've looked as far as I can, and I just don't see any FC-related vids using the Source Filmmaker, which is a shame seeing all that can (and has) been done with the program.

I wish to make shorts with it myself, but lets just say that the current equipment I've been using is very dated; and I'm aware that I'm not alone on that boat. And yes, it does take a long time and alot of effort to make something cool and worth watching, but regardless to what the obstacles are, it's still a pretty cool way to make some content for the site.

If there's anyone out there willing to take the plunge, it would be awesome to see some SFM movies made for this site.

My initial impression is that an SFM movie requires more work than all but a very few FC members have been ever been willing to expend. Using the system certainly barrels over my level of competency.

I poked around with it some, but got frustrated with the limited out-of-the-box assets (TF2 character models and scenery only). Given some decent fembot-able character models, a set designer, dialog recording from at least one voice artist, and a whole helluva lotta free time, I might be able to put together something people would willingly watch more than once. The amount of effort involved in obtaining the first three items is intimidating, but doable. Free time, unfortunately, is in critically short supply.

Actually, now that I can recall, there is just one SFM video I can think of that relates to this website.

It's not much, but it's a start.

And YES, the model in question is available for download somewhere. :)
