I'm sorry I have no pictures of video of this yet, and technically she isn't a "gynoid", but I think she is close enough....

In the new Tron Legacy movie, there is a scene where the girl program Quorra, played by Olivia Wilde, is damaged by some of the bad guy's thugs, and they break off one of her arms.
They literally have her act like a broken robot, with one arm missing (mechanical looking), and grown back later digitally after removing corrupted files from her programming.
It was very cool, and I highly recommend seeing this movie just for her, and the music. Daft Punk ROCKS! Come on, robot DJs, too awesome.

Just seeing Olivia Wilde act in deactivated mode was like a fantasy come true! Quorra actually is a gynoid, btw.

Here's my theory since there was a big stink about it at Wikipedia...
Yes, a "gynoid" is a correct term for a fembot, but the problem I have with Wikipedia is their not accepting the term "fembot" because they don't seem to get that a fembot is a particular TYPE of gynoid. Instead they want to be snobs and think that gynoid is the only correct term.

Gynoid is a term that is all encompassing to describe any type of artificial woman, be they mechanical, genetically engineered, elemental, etc. For example, the Enforcer from Hercules The Legendary Journeys is probably MORE ROBOTIC than most fembots on screen, but she was made of water. Technically she is still a gynoid but can also still turn many of us on

A fembot is strictly a mechanically based artificial woman.

Think of it like this. Genus "Ape" can refer to a number of species, but "Human" is specific to ours. (Well mine anyway)

I didn't mean to go off topic so back to QUORRA! I'm still wondering if she was reintegrated as human in our world because users bled in the digital. I'm just hoping she's all fembot in ours

You may get your answer in the ANIMATED Series that is being worked on for Disney XD........let's hope they don't screw it up.

Yes, I know. An Iso and not a gynoid. She is a sort of spontaneously generated living program. Data that came about from unknown natural causes because "the conditions were right". Kind of following that whole "life finds a way" thing.
As an Iso, she is still a type of program, and yet, she is more complex than the other programs, but not as complex as the users. She seems like a step between. At least that is my interpretation on it.
I think it is a great idea, although they should explore it more.

I don't see how she could be fully human. This is partly for selfish reasons and partly because it would invalidate a whole lot of canon.

How can the movies go to such lengths to show that Users are different from Programs (Users bleed, etc) and then say "Congratulations, Quorra, you're one of us now..." It doesn't make sense. I don't think she'll be a mechanical fembot either, for the same reasons.

Hopefully the sequel(s?) will address this and/or expand upon it.

As a huge TRON fan, let me attempt an explanation (if there really is one).

1. If you recall, programs couldn't leave the grid without a users memory disk, specifically the creator's (Kevin Flynn) disk.

2. The mechanism for a user (human) to enter the grid is similar to the Star Trek transporter, in concept at least. A human is effectively copied and the flesh broken into something like information and then put back together in another place. while in transit, the human is basically broken down into data. And like a program while in storage.

3. With these in mind, you could assume that only a User's disk contains the information necessary to recreate a human body.

As to why Quorra didn't come out looking like a 65 year old Jeff Bridges, or why Sam's disk wouldn't do the same thing, alas I have no rationalization for that.

Of course if we leave behind the suspension of disbelief altogether, we could start arguing about how a large computer could continue operating for over 20 years with out freezing or losing a hard drive, how the power bills were paid for the arcade, why do programs eat, why did Kevin Flynn age, etc. I prefer to let go a little and enjoy the ride, so to speak.

To add to that, I also REALLY enjoyed the movie. Lots of fan-service and tie-ins to the original, yet still fresh and modern. And as others have said, the music was amazing and perfect for the movie's theme. Good show from Daft Punk!

SET TO PREMIERE IN SUMMER 2012 on DISNEY XD
TRON UPRISING is the name of the series, and it's going to be produced and directed by one of the producers of SAMURAI JACK...and the writers of the new TRON movie will be producers/consultants

Leading the voice cast is Elijah Wood, and joining him will be Emanuelle Chiriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens (yes, PeeWee Herman)Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner

Sounds like a fun ride, and I'll be watching... Phineas and Ferb have a new gynoid neighbor...... "FERB!--I KNOW WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO TODAY!"

Woah.... that sounds awesome. I wonder if it will be 3D or hand-drawn. Samurai Jack was an awesome show, and the cast sounds great!
I look forward to this, but I'm afraid it will be too childish. I only hope they keep in mind the adult audience as well.

Hand drawn (well, digitally drawn actually) --with 3-D elements with the cycle chases, game bits and all.... so a mix of both worlds. You'll see teasers starting around Christmas of 2011

That's why I've been prepping the rocket to Pandora. Actually, SOMEONE'S WORLD ENDS each DAY... so I'm not worried about December 2012, unless that's the month they release another Meet the Fockers sequel.
