Restored Metropolis on TV and a new book

Post by Rotwang » Sun Jan 10, 2010 6:03 am

For those lucky to live in Europe and have access to ARTE, the premiere of the restored version will be broadcast live on February 12th.

Also there is a book coming out where they finally compiled all the photos from the various film archives. Should have nearly a thousand images (about three times that of the 1984 book by the French cinematheque)

Awesome! Here's hoping it airs in the States too! :D

Thanks for the info Rotwang! Although I have access to arte, I usually do not watch it or follow its programming because it's much too "arty" and frankly: boring. But I will definately watch and record this!

If you are talking about the original Fritz Lang version, and not the other companies that either colorized it or added new scenes, I don't think it will ever happen.
In fact I know it won't happen.
Fritz Lang himself said this!
You'll have to get the out of print video tape.
Yahoo Auction might still have these.

As for the album (featuring Here She Comes by Bonny Tyler), amazon.co.uk might still have this, but it's not the original recording so I wouldn't bother.
I don't think the mini song Getting Blood From A Stone is even on there!
