Would it be possible... given the number of us out there and our contacts to create some kind of research center (using grants and donations) to actually develop these technologies? I mean its well and good for the mind to stir and debate and talk.. but... what if we actually worked on making this stuff real? We have some brilliant minds here, and I don't know... i'm sure we have programmers, engineers, and technical/grant writers... we are drawn to those types of jobs because of our desires... we have a resource pool that could be tapped.. any researcher would be drawn to where they could work.. if we could bring them all to one place....

there's nothing saying we can't, if we say we can.

Its at least something to think about.

Sociology here. Technical skills in general are pretty bad. However, I don't doubt that we have some brains here, but I'm willing to make the assumption that most are broke as a joke like me. :D

I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting. There's RealDoll, Andydroid, and a couple of Japanese companies as well as some smaller companies working on fembots. That's not counting the companies making robots for work tasks. I lack the technical skills to do much of it.

Possibly we could be a source of ideas for them, but that can be done by making sure they know about the forum.

Hmmm my technical skills and knowlege about creating some kind of androids is bad like mark F (6 in germany)

I'm only good in making stories and mangas (comics)

Can I help in something? I'm studying bionics engineering, but we will need huge quantities of money, for developing and research, maybe if we can find a tycoon who likes ASFR...

a tycoon or 2... and if we get people who know how to write research grants we could pull government money for an institute.. the primary research could be normal robotics/cybernetics... with the obvious spin offs to be enjoyed.

Just wonder what percent of the price of a RealDoll goes into R&D for the next generation.

Anyway, even if we had 10 robotics engineers in the group, logistics would make it impossible for them to collaborate.

I think the realistic chance will be someday in the future, modifying already made secretary/nurse gynoids into "recreational" versions, software code and hardware modifications developed quite probably by ASFRians. Or at least special personality patches/programs for ASFRians. Sometimes I get a feeling that real gynoids won't malfunction or wind down or just "be robotic" in the way we enjoy in all the great stories.

It's a goldmine waiting to happen, and I assume that Japan, with it's love of technology, fairly liberal attitude regarding sex, disdain for importing foreign labor (but with a labor shortage), absence of prudish religious politics, and tons of pop culture regarding cute gynoids, will be the place it starts.

Japan's already been home to a couple of androids with lifelike appearances and 'micromovements' (the tiny movements you make while idle or at rest) and a couple of simulatable emotions. It's at the point where at a glance you can't tell them apart from a human, but it's still only the beginning!
