The Old IRC #ASFR Chatroom. Where's it gone?

Post by WinterRose » Tue Feb 08, 2005 10:45 pm

I'm rather embarassed to ask it, but I've quite forgotten what server it's gone off to. I know some of you remember the old #ASFR room. I remember it once being on Sandnet, and being there with Vengeance when it moved somewhere and she was setting it up. But for the life of me, I've forgotten where it is or where it was. Do any of you know?

I am still on the sandnet chat once in a while, but the primary chat (as far as I know) is on dalnet new.

Bump. Well, the #asfr chat is occupied again. I registered it on dalnet. PM me if you have any questions as to how to get on there.

I should be there most of the time, but if not, just chill in there and see if anyone stops by.

Geez, it's been so long since I've been in #ASFR, I don't even think I have mIRC on my computer anymore...

well, it's the old standard that everyone can access, and so until the next widely accepted standard shows up, we're stuck with this.

Is there a way to access the chatroom without downloading any software i.e. through a website?

Just for the heck of it, I went on there ... nobody home.

Is there a time when I should expect the place to be populated?

Well, there is a software that's webbased, but it's much easier to just download mIRC or some other program.

And yeah, I've been having connection problems with Dalnet at the moment, so my presence will be sporadic. If anyone can recommend another large server to use, I might consider moving it there.

No idea whether an applet exists, but there always is telnet for short sessions.

BTW: I would recommend bersIRC instead of mIRC for being OpenSource.

There does exist an apple or two, but they need to configured and whatnot.

I tried using Bersirc, and it seems ok. I'm all a fan of supporting Open Source (I'm trying to switch over to Ubuntu as we speak), but mIRC is a lot more polished and easier to use. Also it has a larger support base.

Also, bersirc seems to have the same problem as mIRC and Konversation with Dalnet. I keep getting the response that I don't have an identd. However, leafchat, which is 100% free, doesn't seem to have this problem.
I'll try to be on there as often as I can. Can anyone recommend any other server that's very popular?

You can ignore the identd normally.

If DALnet is one of the few servers insisiting on it, hmmm,... move the chan!

I know other serverswhich do not annoy the users like that.

Well... I had someone ask me tonight where the #ASFR chatroom was, and honestly I hadn't been there in so long that I couldn't remember it was Sandnet and had to search up this thread. And now I find out that there's not one to speak of anymore except for a DalNet thing? Is that still going?

I was flirting with the idea of opening up one on Bondage.com's IRC Servers I believe there's a webclient for that one as well. There's more than a few hypno and doll themed rooms there. It's a high profile place where people might come to see what things are about at. Of course my first urge was to open up on SorceryNet, but #AdultHypnoticWishes and #HypnoticWishes aren't much to recommend the place aside from being where me and my best pal have been for the last 10 years.

Anyone interested?

Actually, I've registered the #ASFR room on bondage.com's server, and I try to hold the door open whenever I'm around.

Feel free to stop in and say hi!
