Definitely the end of an era. But isn't it always?

He was battling cancer for 18 months, but managed to get a last album out. The official release was a couple days before he died. He got a couple videos out for it. So he got to leave at a high point, when he was riding some accomplishments and receiving congratulations. The release was on his 69th birthday, so he got to celebrate that. From what I understand, his end was peaceful.

I can be happy for him for that much. It is as good an end as anyone can really hope for. If the Fates would grant us all as good an exit from this life, then this would be a kind world indeed.

I will miss seeing him come out with wild and cool music and ideas. Been listening to him since the 70s. But nothing lasts forever. He left much good music that will live on beyond him.

Ave atque vale!
