I love Alita. She has been round since the early 90's.

I have both collections of the books though the Last Order set hasnt been finished here in the uk yet.

I don't think it's finished here in the states either, I think Last Order stopped at book 9. I think there was a manga series call A.I or something like that, although they're more computer program A.I's come to life then robot girls. *thinks* then there's SMJ. I know there was more, i just can't remeber them all.

"BLYTHE" was a fashion doll in the '60's with HUGE anime style eyes, she was supposed to emulate the look of the English model named 'TWIGGY" --- and was designed to fit into an ANDY WARHOL-ISH world.... She resurfaced in recent years, redesigned for a new generation ...Mattel called the new "Blythe" line 'DIVA STARZ" --so if I just melt down some friendly plastic, I can take a DIVA STARZ figure, and create an 'ALITA" figure for fun. --minkwheel

OMG underage!

I thought she was proscribed here, since she is only 14 in the series...

welllll, technically Alita is about 200+ years old. So i'm not sure she even fits that ideal.

Considering I have read the entire series and she is in the the military before she looses her memory and is found in the scrapyard 200 years later then she is 18+. Plus she has full relationships in the manga and is shown to be adult. I will admit when she is first reconstructed then she is teenage like in mentality but she does mature throughout.

Her illusion of youth is started and even propagated by Doc Ito, since he didn't really know her and was trying to build a fantasy around her. So he would dress her up funny and treat her like a daughter. She would even have uncomfortable flashbacks about those times. I guess that's what happens when you have a microchip for a brain. The irony is perfect between the 2 of them.

Everyone else in the stories treats her as an adult, including other children.
