The first is better
The effect of a panel under translucid cover is so soft and elegant
English isn't my first language (and isn't close to be my second...). So, if i commit some mistake, PLEASE advice me.

my only tip would be that the "circuit board" material you used for the inner circuitry looks a little flat. Try finding some that have some depth to them. I usually find gaming computer innards.

Something like this you mean?

To create the illusion of depth? Thats a great tip Boo thanks. I'm finding my google skills tested to get good stock images.

Again the shoopping was a bit "flat" particulary around the shoulder, just pretend her shoulder plate fell down or something.............
Also how do you get the parts you add to the image to naturally blend into the image. I tired Gausian Blur, auto contrast, auto color and auto tone but they don't help enough to hide how much in sticks out.

Wow, that's a pretty awesome manip.
The idea is good and the execution is great!
Here's a tip: Start to use some shadow
In this manip, if you put a little bit of shadow between the shoulder and the cables, would be a 10/10.
I like to use a black "form" with a good amount of gaussian blur in the area i'd like to, but you can find another way to do it

Shadows are a great idea, as CK said. To blend parts I like using Gaussian Blur and then use another tool (Sharpen in Paint.Net) to try and reverse the effect to have the same "quality" as the rest of the picture, then making an Alpha Mask of the part and tint it with a color from the original picture. Auto tools are pretty useless also.

I don't want to plug but you can use my manipulation archives for stock images and somewhat see how the sausage is made (.pdn files are for Paint.Net). I'd hoped it can be of use to new manippers.

Cheers Chocolate, glad you liked it! Will have to try using shadows. Sorry I don't know what you mean by black form. Are you saying I should use the brush tool to paint a shadow? Or is there a special form tool that google and I are missing.

Thanks for the tips Faceoff. Unfortunately Paint.net's website seems to be down, but will try as soon as its up. I had no idea you had such a large archive, what a treasure trove of goodies thankyou for making it available! Lots of stuff there so I'll slowly go through all of them. I would very much like to see how the sausage is made.

I should've explain better but it's like you said: the Brush Tool

In other layer, Paint over the place that you want to put the shadow, put a good amount of Gaussian Blur and erase the excess with a low hardness eraser.

You could use the drop shadow in the setting of photoshop (If you use the program), but I don't like it because the shadow appears flat. Is good to use to create a depth in a internal panel etc., but for other shadow, the paint tool+ gaussian blur rules
