*ENTRIES CLOSED* FCSWC! Write Stories, Win Cash!

Post by TW » Fri Dec 04, 2015 10:14 am

*EDIT* Hi Everyone, to account for the holidays and to encourage more people to participate, I am EXTENDING the contest time frame to SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH AT 11:59:59 PM EASTERN. Thanks to all who have participated so far, and good luck!

Hello Fembot Central Readers, Writers, Commenters, and Lurkers!

As we start settling in for our holidays and long winters naps, many of you may have noticed that things seem quieter around here than usual. Real life, it seems, has a habit of stymieing even our most creative writers, but today I hope to awaken some of those minds from hibernation with a little incentive...

Since we're in the Stories section, let me weave you a true tale, and take you back to the ancient, heady days of 2008...a time before iPads, when George the 2nd still ruled the US with an iron fist...and an enterprising user named Android675 struck out against the darkness, holding a series of story competitions on this very board that changed the course of history. Well, not really, of course, but the contest did cause an outpouring of creativity from writers new and tenured alike, filling our pages with truly excellent stories that are enjoyed by our members to this day.

In that spirit, I'd like to pick up the torch that Android675 had lit, and welcome you to the second iteration of the Fembot Central Story Writing Contest!

HOW TO ENTER:
- Write a story! Get creative, get smutty, whatever gets your juices going!
- Submit your story to the board with the tag [FCSWC] in the title
- Repeat, should you feel so inclined!

HOW TO WIN:
- At the end of the contest period (see below), a poll will be created to judge readers' favorite story. That's right, we're democratizing this bitch! Don't abuse it!
- The winner will be chosen based on popular vote. Moderators WILL be watching the results, so please don't try to game the system in any way.
- In the event of a tie, a runoff will be held between the two top contenders

And, the moment you've all been waiting for, THE PRIZES:
- First Prize: $50 USD
- Runner-up: $25 USD
- Additional prizes at organizer's (me!) discretion!
- All prizes will be disbursed via PayPal. No exceptions.

And, because every contest must have them, THE RULES:
- All contest entrants must be over 18 years of age or of legal age in your country of residence.
- No additional chapters of existing stories will be accepted. This is about generating new stories and ideas, don't repurpose your multi-chapter epic just to win a few bucks. Blow us away with your creativity!
- All entrants must be submitted with the [FCSWC] tag in the title to be considered.
- All entrants must be submitted prior to the end date (below). Stories submitted to the board BEFORE the start date of this contest will also not be accepted.
- ABSOLUTELY NO VOTE BRIGADING WILL BE TOLERATED. I cannot stress this enough, but DO NOT CHEAT. Moderators will be watching, and participants found to be cheating will be disqualified.
- Entrants may submit as many entries as they like. The more the merrier! Just remember, people will be evaluating quality over quantity.
- Have fun! Seriously, this isn't about money, this is about the community and enjoying writing. Go out there, and write us a story we want to read!

The contest begins today, and runs through Sunday, February 14th, at 11:59:59 PM, Eastern Time.

And that's it! Thank you in advance for participating, and best of luck to all entrants!

No additional chapters of existing stories will be accepted.
I can't say it's unfair, but I'll admit that dampened my enthusiasm a tad.

But I may still be able to participate...

As someone who really really likes breaking factory-made fembots, I just wanna say that I feel forcing the story to have a malfunction does a disservice to the people on the board who really enjoy conversion stories, and also people who just really enjoy super robotic content without that stuff.

It's okay either way. Because of popular vote, it's very very very unlikely a non-malfunction story is ever going to win.

I had a feeling I'd overstepped my bounds when I added that - should have listened to my gut.

I've updated the post - malfunctions are no longer a requirement. I hope that entices those on the fence to reconsider!

I'll consider now. Its probably because I'm one of those who would love to be converted that I cant see why there is a fascination with malfunctions. Prefer the perfect robot lover idea lol

"Psst," Contessa whispered. "Calvin's still a sleeper, so he doesn't know–but he's not really hypnotized. Just reprogrammed to randomly smack himself in the face... charming malfunction, eh? Greg didn't want to do it to his best friend, but he's got his job to think abo–"

"BELLA–GORBLIMEY! OUCH! UNHYPNOTIZE ME BEFORE–OUCH! I RING UP THE GAOL TO REPORT–OUCH!–DOMESTIC VIOLENCE–OUCH!"

"And they call ME dramatic," Contessa grinned. "Let's look over those rules again. "No additional chapters of existing stories will be... accepted... well, hell's bells. And malfunctions are no longer requi–"

"OUCH! LORD LUVVADUCK–OUCH!"

"God, you prat... WILL you shut up?" The bloom off the rose, Contessa clicked a button on her stopwatch. Calvin toppled over on the couch mid-shout, frozen as if he'd turned to stone.

"You know, Bella," grinned Greg, leaning into the room, "I was trying to tell you before you spanked me–it's not actually a malfunction if it's something you've deliberately instructed the unit to do." He rolled his eyes and slowly shook his head. "Poor Cal. Cut off in the prime of life."

"God–you can bring him back! You have my permission. Ugh... without the face-slapping."

"And Prop and Australopith will have to come up with something more original," Greg said with a grin. "Maybe they're doing it now."

"Who's doing what? Nngh... there goes my weak arm again. Blast it–GREG!"

"On the job," said Greg with a giggle, holding Contessa's shaking arm steady. Suddenly, though, he let it go, nudging it forward so she gently slapped herself in the face.

"Poetic justice?" laughed Greg. "Or–as Cal would say–bloody hell? OUCH!" He dodged Contessa's foot before she could kick him again.

Unfortunately I am taking a bit of a hiatus from story writing, but hopefully you do this again during the summer time since I do have several good stories slow cooking on the backburner in my head.

I've made a start at least, at long last. Probably end up with 2 alternate endings, simply because I get too sweet on my heroines/victims lol

Edited to add, I've ended up with 3 endings! Hopefully that will cover all bases, including mine!

Perhaps a new post could be made to a accommodate a link to all the entries for the contest? just to make sure we are not missing any at the moment of voting?

Hi All! We're in the midst of the final week of the contest, and I'm thrilled at the responses I've seen so far! Once the deadline has passed, I'll put up a poll of every entry and leave it open for a week's worth of voting before declaring a winner. Thanks to all who have participated so far, and good luck to all of you!

Might I suggest the poll remain up for a bit longer than a week? I've noticed not everyone has time to tune into this site everyday, and it may take them a while to get through all the stories. Perhaps the poll could instead run through the end of February?

Not a bad idea. Okay, once voting starts, it will remain open throughout the rest of February. And it's a leap year, so you even get an extra day, on the house!

Still waiting for the voting poll to be opened, but I thought I'd break the silence with a fun fact. This contest, in addition to generating 13 great stories, has enticed three new authors to contribute. That fact alone makes this contest worth it, and justifies more contests in the future.
