According to their (English-language) blog, Nydenion is being released on DVD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sweet.

The film is availibe since last week as rental DVD and Blueray in Germany. You can buy it on November the 7th, preorder has started.

It has some realy nice scenes featuring female robots, you will love it.

It is increddible regarding the fact, that this is an indie film with amateur actors how entertaining the movie is. I haven`s seen any independent Sci-Fi film with this ammount of effects and sets.

It is full with witty anecdotes and film quotations. Beside that you realy feel that it is made with passion for detail. The Blueray quality is quite low rez when it comes to live action scenes, because of the fact, that they have filmed in PAL format some years ago. But some CG will leave you speachles.

I heard that they have sold the movie to other countries, maybe there is a chance for an English/Spanish/French dubbed version.

All I can say is buy!

Cheers, Bunnybot

I'd be happy with English subtitles (and an NTSC, Region 1 compatible disc) but for now ...

Ok, so choppy buffering aside, first female android is 18:15 or so.

Destruction of the second fembot starts just after 45:00.

Next is damage and a nice brief shutdown at 47:00, then the best sequence at 51:30.

Without knowing German, I can't tell whether there were any GINO's (certainly at least one), but I'm assuming there are more.

Unless I have misjudged the FC ethical sentiment, I plan to exclude Nydenion from the FTP.

Oh why is that?

I'm somewhat confused as a film with fembots is being excluded, yet Steven Spielbergs "Batteries not included" about little alien robots saving a run down block in the 'Bronks' is in...........................

I think Dale is choosing to reward folks who produce content that's especially applicable and/or in communication with the community (Frank, Evangaline, etc). So they will make more. I don't think the above-mentioned Spielberg film qualifies either of the above categories.

And it's his own ftp, if he wants to deem content appropriate/non-appropriate that's entirely his call. He's done a great job so far.

It's a proposal only, on my part; a guess based on the enthusiasm of posts here.
Perhaps it's just as realistic to say that our impact on their success is negligible.

Nydenion is available widely already on-line (German, w/German sub-titles).
Action, but no sexiness, as I understand it.

If you want, download for free the program HandBrake. It will let you rip any DVD, PAL or NTSC, into virtually any format you want. It's easy to use, and has very good presets too. The downside is you often have image compression that can at times be pretty intense, and unless you know how to adjust it and are willing to deal with large file sizes, you will have mediocre quality images. However, that's true of ANY ripping software. But it beats not being able to see it at all, and usually the quality is decent.
I've used this to rip some UK Gorillaz DVDs, as well as some German and British imported titles. Works like a charm.

The Fembot is actually a Cyborg,
called Cynthia Perkins

she got shot few years ago in middle of the war. So she was converted into a cyborg.
She always wanted to do something to end the wars.

btw someone asked me for a short translation of that scene in the 45th minute

44:44:
Fembot(RX-3000) on the hangar : RT2-05 this is not an anthorized action, please state your reason for your return
Rick Walker in mech: First of all we have to get rid of this thing. RX-3000 they only make troubles.

pressing the shot button and shots the RX-3000 down.
next scene tipping something on the control panel of that mech

Rick Walker: So, i'm almost done, This is going to be a nice little surprise

they get off the mech and move on.

RX-3000: required reboot... not author... Warning Intruders! Initialize initial... Warning, Intruders Security Secur... [Walker cutting off her power source]

Walker: As i said before they only make troubles

I was probably over-reacting.
I'll toss it in to the FTP.
Like I said, it's easily located otherwise, in USENET, torrents, or Rapidshare-ish sites.

Is there any way I could send a little donation to the makers of the movie? I feel a little guilty to have watched their hard work without giving them a little something for it.

Agreed, besides, unless the material is made fubu with the things we find erotic to downright asfr pornographic, I'm at a loss for understanding the need to "support" any medium that just happens to contain material some consider ASRFic (think stiff bent arms, walking and monotone voices) Here's hoping for some simple audio dubbing/editing or even some kinda animation.
By the way it appears that Nydenion may be available via torrent anywhooo.

Agree. I do often watch films from online rental, when I like it, I do buy it.

With Nydenion everything is different. It was such a small and dedicated crew who worked so long in their free time, full of enthusiasm to finish it. And they did it!!!

It is the first real German Sci-Fi for ages and it is made mostly with the help of Sci-Fi fans and non prefessionals. It is hard to discribe, for a B-Movie some scenes are too well, but for a Hollywood blockbuster it has too much B-movie feel ;-) Anyway, it is most entertaining, and and it's worth to be watched. Nitpickers beware! Watch out for all the little Sci-Fi hints in there.

I have never seen a fan made film at this scale. Please support the guys, they love Sci-Fi and it seems like they love fembots ;-)

I talked to the Nydenion guys yesterday. It is confirmed, that they are selling the movie worldwide, so there will be a English dub version as well as French. You can reach them at the Facebook account or by Magna Mana.

Cheers!

Star Wreck In the Pirkinning was actually a very impressive fan-made film, I don't know how it compares to this one but it was the best I saw. Very funny, too.

I've added screencaps with subtitles, which altogether makes a small comic book:

Don't forget the antagonist's main assistant was a robot too. Although they never outright say so, she displays superhuman strength.

Unfortunately displaying superhuman strength and speaking like a robot is difficult to screencap.
