new movie "android"

Aaron Paul has been hired to star alongside Olga Kurylenko in a new sci-fi thriller called Android. According to Variety, the story "is set on a lonely spaceship orbiting Neptune as Paul’s character fulfills his dream to rebuild his dead wife, portrayed by Kurylenko, and their son as androids." It's then explained that when the androids begin demanding a life of their own, "his life is suddenly in danger and a battle of wits and strength ensues."

This sounds like a really interesting film concept! The thought of a father whose android versions of a wife and son are trying to kill him is kind of twisted and demented. Niall Johnson is directing from a script he co-wrote with Matt O’Reilly, and producer Margot Hand had this to say the project in a statement:

“We are so excited to see what Aaron and Olga can bring to this film. Niall and Matt have written a genre-bending and thrilling film that is grounded in the relationship of two complicated and interesting characters. There are no better actors to work with Niall to bring this film to life.”

*PREDICTIVE SPOILERS*
1. Paul's character is killed and replaced by an android.
2. Paul's character is also an android.
3. Paul's character successfully destroys the others and lives alone.

Two outta three ain't bad.
May your deeds return to you tenfold,

Why can't people just build generic androids because they simply want to get their game on?

It's not "male get horny" = "Hitler" it's "Male get horny and thus betrays/deceives/enslaves somebody" = "hitler"

There's nothing wrong in getting horny, but non-consensual enslavement or deception to get some 'tang is somewhat despicable, if you allow it.

If the other party is into that "submission" thing, there's nothing wrong, but usually they aren't. At least in mainstream movies.

For some reason if somebody is into submission it's seen as "really bad".

If it's a man then it's violence, if it's a woman then it's violence too (but they usually make peace by the end of the movie, unlike male submission).

In any case it's never voluntary.

Well,

You could just say, Hollywood requires sex and tight, compelling plots. Plots need to punish their characters for whatever it is they do. I mean, you can look at the plot of every Shakespeare play - every lead character is punished for the good things, the bad things, and indifferent things they do. Romeo and Juliet are punished for love, King Lear is punished for trying to retire, Macbeth is punished for yielding to temptation, Richard III is punished for being evil, etc.

Occasionally, you get a drama where a villain or hero doesn't wind-up punished but it just takes more maneuvers to make that happen.

And Hollywood wants sex so hero/heroins have sex, want sex or are sexy and get punished for that.

Well a tight trope of story making is that the protagonist has to fail repeatedly before getting what he wants. And if the story is dramatic in the end the protagonist fails to get what he wants. So yea "getting punished" is part of the failing cycle. But for once i'd like the people fail without making our fetish look bad. I mean, why the fembot always malfunctions into getting homicidal with the protagonist? That's lazy writing.
