Novelty Image/Character Packages

Post by The Liar » Mon Sep 15, 2014 3:25 pm

I've had to get a new computer, after my last one died recently.

Though I did back up my image/character sets recently this time, my latest attempt to make a visually novel was once again lost.

As such I think I'm going to be giving trying to make a game a rest for awhile.

But I thought I might as well make my more complete set's available for use for anyone wanting to make their own games using Novelty (It feels less like I've totally wasted my time that way!).

Here is were to get novelty

Here are the Image set's (in Novelty Package form)

I may later include the DR-650 Set when/If I finish it.

Lost all your work again Liar? I'm so sorry to hear that, having lost once a year-old project to a faulty HDD drive, I know how you feel.

Keep your spirits up though, your manips have been good. Maybe third time's the charm ^^;

Take into account the times I gave up on a game because I realized I didn't have enough to work with or the concept was spiraling exponentially out of control, this would closer to the 7th time.

Anyway here's an image/character I forgot about.

Tried to take a look into it, but neither novelty nor the novelty designer could open those files.....

Did you place the package file into the assets folder with the .nml files ?

It occurs to me should tell people how to access these things in novelty.

There is an Assets folder in the VN folder were the novelty.exe file is; in the Assets folder are kept the .nml file's. Place the .nvz files into this folder, then start up novelty or refresh it, and the images should be available in the asset library menu.

I figured it out and played around with it a little bit just now. Managed to work out how to change scenes and such, along with how to change the canvas size so you can actually have something like a 1680 x 1050 game (yeah, I know the "new standard" is 1080p, I have an old monitor, sue me.)

Might try to whip something up myself but it'd likely get half-assed and stopped about a quarter of the way through like my android race / female companion mod for Skyrim. Got that thing working and with her own voice (used a TTS program), but never could finish the quests and stuff I wanted.

If I do whip up something I feel is halfway decent, I'll let you guys know.

Finished the DR-650 Set. I had to compress it because it was a little over a GB.

http://bitshare.com/files/7yz9v0cv/DR-650.7z.html

This set is divided into two types of images/character sprites.

The images/character sprites marked H are the human(ish) version (though there are still character sprites with panels/wires/etc marked Mech)

The images/character sprites marked R are the more overt robot design.
