Mr. Robot

Post by Spaz » Wed Sep 09, 2015 7:17 pm

Alright, this is starting to turn into another Google Android operating system issue, creating mayhem for those of us using common search terms like: Robot or Android.

Does this show have any content at all, or is just cluttering up searches?

It's an awesome show indeed!

No material relevant to us, though.

Don't know anything about the show, but I did want to comment on the issue of mainstream products/brands using OUR terminology and messing with search results but tossing in tons of chaff. I know the feeling... but it's almost worth it just for the pleasure of going through daily life and suddenly, out-of-the-blue, hearing a chick talk about "android." I lean in the direction of taking that trade-off.

Mr. Robot - A show about humans.

Humans - A show about robots.

Domo arigoto, marketing. You've provided a convenient example to use whenever anyone is uncertain about the proper definition of the word "irony." Now we can be both pedantic and trendy, and can ridicule Alanis Morissette's usage of the word safe in the knowledge that more popular media has better improved the general public's vocabulary skills.

Now we just need someone to make a show about "verisimilitude."

Mi mi mi mi....

"The
use of words
expressing something
other than their
literal intention;
now that
is
irony!"

Ironically (true definition),
I whole-heartedly, 112% agree with you.

Each show is named for the protagonist's most distinctive personality characteristic.

Mr. Robot was originally the name of a repair shop, but Eliot transferred the name to a person who wears a jacket with that label. Because of his ultra-flat affect, the title of the show can equally apply to Eliot himself.

The sentient robots in Humans are most distinguished from the standard models by their truly human behaviors and emotions.

There's nothing ironic about either usage.

If the USA show were titled, "Mr. Human",
and AMC's was "Robots"
- now that would be Bender-approved,
actual irony-irony.
